July 4th Parade and Get Together

Postby DtE1 » Tue Jun 20, 2017 11:26 am

We will be providing the hot dogs and buns plus all the fixings, corn on the cob, and lemonade (both adult and non-alcoholic varieties). We will also provide paper plates, plastic utensils, and napkins. We have several coolers to use for ice and drinks.
Other food items that are needed include:
Salads - potato, pasta, etc.
Chips - Fritos, Doritos, etc.
Soft Drinks - Coke, Sprite, Diet Coke, etc
Bottle Drinks - water, tea
Desserts - cakes, pies, cookies, etc.
Please indicate by a reply to this post what you will bring to the party. If you are going to be in the parade and have something that needs refrigeration, I will be at the parade assembly area with a cooler and take your item(s) to our home when the parade starts. We will be assigned several parade sequence numbers and will be lining up in the Bellaire Triangle shopping center parking lot beginning at 8:30 AM to decorate our MINIs/Minis with the theme this year of "America's Superheroes". The parade begins at 9:30 AM and lasts about 30 minutes. After finishing the parade route, proceed to 5220 Braeburn Drive and let the party begin!

The Bellaire 4th of July Parade and Festival is just around the corner! The theme for this year’s parade and festival is:‘America’s Superheroes!’ In addition, here are some other notes that might prove helpful as we look forward to another excellent parade this year:
· Arrival time: between 8:15 and 9:15 a.m. Bellaire Triangle Shopping Center, located between Bellaire, Bissonnet and Chimney Rock. Roads will begin closing around 9:15 am.
· Parade begins: 9:30 a.m. SHARP!
· Parking- please DO NOT park your personal vehicles in the middle parking spots in the lot - those middle spaces are where the parade vehicles line up. If possible, park off-site or along the outside perimeter of the Triangle parking lots. Please try to keep spots in front of the businesses open, as some businesses will be open during our staging.
· Parade Number – Please line up in numerical order. We are number 51 in the line up, on the Bissonnet side of the parking lot. The parade line up map shows an approximate location for you and your group – adjust according to the other participants. You may not be in the exact spot you are assigned. It all works out just fine when we all get going anyway. Please print the number assigned and display your parade number to the right side of your vehicle where it will be visible, inside windshield is preferable. Parade numbers will be handed out before the parade begins.
· Parade Driving: Safety is the number one concern! There will be lots of people and especially children watching the parade, as well as many walking groups participating. It is imperative to be vigilant at all times of pedestrians entering the parade route as well as keeping a safe amount of space between groups as the parade is underway. Please be sure to drive slowly, allow enough space between you and the group in front of you but please do not allow large gaps in the parade. Be aware of children watching the parade and entering the route. Please keep your eyes on the group in front of you and be prepared to stop at any time. If your vehicle is not in good working order please do not enter it into the parade!
· Dispensing candy/items from vehicles- If you would like to give out candy or other items please walk along your vehicle and pass them out. We do not want children running up to the vehicles to gather candy. Drivers of the vehicles cannot always see if someone runs out in front of them. PLEASE BE CAREFUL!
· Heat- even though we meet in the early morning, it is usually VERY HOT and sunny with little shade in the parking lot. Please stay hydrated, bring water, hats, sunglasses and wear sunscreen!
· Parade Route: Ends at S. Rice and Jessamine. Vehicles will turn right onto Jessamine to head back towards the Bellaire Triangle. If you need to drop people off at the festival your vehicle will be turned onto 5th street from Jessamine- you will not be able to park your vehicle at this time-this is strictly for dropping people off from your float at the festival site. To come to our home, you will continue down Jessamine to Chimney Rock, turn left and proceed to Braeburn Drive (3rd street past the Evergreen light), turn left and 5220 Braeburn is the third house on your left.
